Distractions

Grand Design by Prints Charming

One has not blogged for yonks and misses it dreadfully.

One is swamped with Uni (two subjects this semester) and full-time work.

But one is not whingeing...just observing.

Of course one gets distracted by all sorts of thing...one develops a keen interest in embroidery as per the picture above...

Then one decides to try and lose weight...again...and goes for the odd walk and sees odd trees such as in Picture Number Two.  Anyone got any idea what tree it is??

Or this one?

And then there are so many yummy books ... particularly now that the Booker shortlist has been announced....not just one stack but two....

And then there are friends who fly in from interstate and force one to go to art galleries....

It's a tough life I tell you....

I am, in a word, content.

What about you?

The yellow is a tabebuia - also known as either Caribbean or Paraguyan Trumpet tree. There is also a pink variety. A very popular street specimen in Cairns where I used to live. The deep pink blossom might be a Japanese quince, but I can't see the flowers quite well enough to be sure. The blossom on them is much more "substantial" than most blossom - not so ephemeral. Petals are almost sturdy-looking :) Love the embroidery!

What lovely flowers and lovely embroidery and fab piles of books and sunny days and friends - what more could you want?!

Alex - thank you! Nice to be thought of as a treasure :) I've decided against Japanese Quince for the pink one. I'll give it some further thought. I'm always taking photos of flowering trees, and on the rare occasion I'm sprung by the gardener, one of two things happens. They are either delighted that I'm interested in and/or vaguely knowledgeable about the tree and/or their garden - or - they hope that I'm knowledgeable about the tree and can tell them something about it!
